Salesforce Strictly (Blog 2) – Group Dance

Jazz hands

Firstly, let me thank you for taking an interest! My first blog hit around 150 views in under a week, which I’m pretty proud of and hopefully will continue to grow. PS if you missed that, it’s here – http://strideconsulting.co.uk/salesforce-strictly-blog-1-audition-day/

Today was the first session learning our Group Dance. Oh yes! So not only do we have to learn an entire routine of a coupled dance, there is also a whole team spectacular. Jazz hands at the ready! We were a smaller group today as some people were tied up with work bits and I don’t envy them having to play catch up. Plus they will learn off the back of the video we made today (have fun guys!)

The session was held at Flow Dance Studios and we were all ready for action. The studio was very well lit and mirrored on both sides so there really was nowhere to hide! The actual dance ended up having several different elements to it, meaning we have covered Cha-cha, Salsa and Rumba so far, all of which taught beautifully by Michael Litke. As a group we were getting it, cha-cha-cha-ing our way across the floor and after each run through there were cheers and high-fives all round. Although there was the occasional “I’m sorry for hitting you in the head. Again!” But practice makes perfect, so we kept at it.

After 2 hours and several run-throughs, I am thrilled to say we have learned half of our 4 minute routine and it holds a lot of promise. We are performing it to “This is Me” from The Greatest Showman which was weirdly my guess to some of the guys as we were walking from the train station.

On the train on the way home, I stood (not through choice) in the aisle, headphones in, that song playing, and running through the steps in my mind. Whilst being ever so careful not to burst into a full routine. I’m thinking by the end of this experience, we will be able to sing the song backwards! Anyway, music back on to shuffle, first song that comes on….. “Fame”. Well obviously!

We are back at it on Wednesday, and hopefully will find out what our partner dance will be. It’s quite a tense waiting game and I’m hoping for Cha-cha or Jive but we shall see and to be honest, I’d be happy with any.

I have now set-up my fundraising page too and have set myself a slightly higher target as I would like to raise money for 2 charities. If you haven’t already, take a look and maybe pop a donation over. Please 😊 Click here for the link.

Thanks for reading! It’s worth following Partner Event Promotions (https://twitter.com/SFPartnerEvents), since those guys actually live tweet as it happening. Which as a person dancing is quite terrifying, so enjoy!

And of course (video courtesy Chris Shaw) here’s a sneak peek of what’s to come….
